Due to this, even doctors recommend it to their patients. Khichdi is synonyms with illness in India. It is made in a variety of ways in different parts of the country.

Khichdi is a wholesome, healthy, easy and good meal for everyone. It is also given to small babies since it is easily digestible. It is also good to have it when your stomach is upset. You can serve it hot with ghee and cold with curd.

Ingredients

Regular Short grained Rice – 1 cup
Moong Dal with skin – 1/3 cup
Water – 3 cup
Ghee – 2 tbsp
Salt to taste

Method

Take rice and moong dal in a bowl. Wash and soak them together in water for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, drain the water and set it aside. Combine rice, moong dal, water, ghee and salt in a pressure cooker and pressure cook on high heat cook for 5-6 whistles. Put off the heat. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid of the pressure cooker. Open the lid. The rice and dal should be very soft and mushy. Mix till well combined. If required add little water to get the desired consistency and cook again for 3-4 minutes. Add more salt (if required) and adjust to taste. Serve hot with ghee and cold with curd & pickle and papad on the side.
